I’ve spent years in management—but I’ll be the first to admit: My first year as a manager? I was terrible. I expected my team to be just like me—intrinsically motivated, driven, willing to push.
And when they weren’t? I got frustrated. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t work like I worked.
What I eventually learned (the hard way) is this:
People aren’t lazy—they’re different. And leadership requires empathy. But empathy didn’t come naturally to me. I wasn’t born with it.
It was something I had to learn, build, and practice—the same way I learned how to read a budget or run a meeting.
And once I did, everything changed. After working under both amazing and awful managers—myself included—I started to see a pattern:
Most managers aren’t bad people—they’re just unsupported, untrained, and unprepared.
And yet they’re expected to carry the weight of engagement, productivity, morale, and retention. Managers are employees too—and they deserve support. That’s why Ryan and I created TurnoverRx—a leadership coaching experience that’s human-first, honest, and built for real-world leadership, not theory. I’m here to help managers lead with empathy, influence, and emotional intelligence—not guilt, pressure, or control.
Ryan
With over 20 years of corporate experience across multiple industries and departments, I’ve had a front-row seat to what great leadership actually takes—and what happens when it’s missing. I got my first management opportunity at 19 years old, leading a team of 40 people. That experience set the tone for the rest of my career. I’ve led from the front ever since. I believe in standing up for your team, taking the blame when mistakes are made, and sharing the credit when we win.
Take the blame. Share the fame. That’s always been my style. My background includes over a decade in investment banking, where I built leadership teams for targeted growth and long-term success. I’ve worked with organizations across industries—from the Federal Housing Finance Administration to Death Row Records, from Firestone Walker Brewing to law firms, local governments, asset leasing companies in aviation, infrastructure, manufacturing, real estate, and traditional banking.
I’ve seen the inside of a lot of companies—and here’s what I know for sure:
Success always comes down to the strength of the leadership. Leading teams to success is my passion. I’m here to help managers build trust, motivate their people, and exceed expectations—not just theirs, but their team’s too.
